Visible from Chalet Lenart and just 25 minutes away by car, Stari Vrh is located in the foothills of the Julian Alps, west of the historic town of Skofja Loka.
Stari Vrh is a small but enjoyable resort with magnificent views of the Julian, Karavanke and Kamnik Alps. It has excellent on-piste facilities and is particularly good for night skiing. Pistes are mostly orientated towards beginner - intermediate level skiers with one or two more advanced pistes.
There is extensive artificial snow making, but due to its relatively low elevation snow quality can be problematic later in the season.
The cable car up to Velika Planina is just 25 minutes from Chalet Lenart and will whisk you up into a different world. It is a high mountain plateau, with a traditional herdsmen’s settlement of cute wooden huts and amazing views over the Kamnik-Savinje Alps into Austria.
In winter it’s a magical winter wonderland with a small ski area (great for families and beginners), snow shoeing, night sledding and cross-country skiing.
Located in the hills above the town of the same name, Cerkno is little known outside of Slovenia but offers a quality beginner - intermediate ski area with Slovenia's most modern lift infrastructure (including new lifts and pistes in 2009/10) and excellent on piste restaurants. The resort has a range of beginner slopes and some steeper intermediate level slopes - many of which are very pretty forest runs.
